There are many new systems available including Aligner Systems such as ‘Invisalign’ and others, Internal braces using the proven, customised and comfortable Incognito ‘hidden braces’ System and clear tooth coloured Ceramic braces fitted on the outside of your teeth. Combinations of these systems are also available.
Incognito braces are invisible orthodontic appliances placed behind your teeth so that no one will even know you are wearing braces. These unique, computer-designed braces are created using state-of-the-art technology and are 100% customized for you and your smile. Lingual braces offer the best of both worlds. They provide the effectiveness of traditional braces with the discretion of clear aligners. So, whether you are a younger patient or an adult, if you’re looking for a treatment that is capable of handling moderate to severe orthodontic concerns without broadcasting to the world that you’re straightening your teeth, lingual braces may be the right choice for you.
The process commences with a digital scan (no impressions or moulds!) of your teeth to make
a customized set-up of your treatment goals. Your new smile is shaped by Dr Stramotas using a digital representation of your actual teeth to make sure the finished targeted result is the best it can be for your smile and dental health. Once the braces are placed, the robotically bent wires start moving your teeth towards the desired target tooth positions and bite from the first day of your treatment. This is one reason why the results are typically more accurate and reached more quickly than conventional braces or aligners. These Incognito lingual braces also allow patients to have a more comfortable orthodontic experience as the brackets are custom made to uniquely fit the shape of each misaligned tooth. The brackets are also highly polished and have the lowest profile, meaning less tongue irritation and a quick adaptation period for eating and speaking.
Aligner Systems such as Invisalign or Suresmile Aligners off an alternative to invisible braces. These systems relatively discrete and are also digitally designed to correct a milder orthodontic problems in order to enhance your smile. Aligners offer an orthodontic alternative for simpler corrections with no complex orthodontic movements. With Invisalign, Dr Stramotas and yourself will evaluate your teeth and talk about any problems or goals you have for your smile. Once we establish that Invisalign is the right treatment option for you we will take a digital scan of your teeth to send to the Invisalign laboratory along with your photos, and x-rays of your teeth. Then, working with Dr Stramotas on the plan for your treatment, the Invisalign lab manufacturers your custom aligners.You will wear each aligner approximately 22 hours per day for two weeks each before switching to the next one. We will see you every 4-6 weeks to make sure the treatment is going as planned and to deliver your next sets of aligners.
Clear tooth coloured Ceramic braces are also an alternative and have been used for decades. These are a good alternative if preferred and can be used to treat all orthodontic problems. These brackets are not customised but are used in conjunction with Suresmile Digital technology and robotically engineered wires to move tooth gently and accurately to their ideal position. Dr Stramotas will design your smile once the braces are in place and using this technology will reduce your treatment time by up yo 30%.
